Latest Lockdown Lash Trends

We aren’t sure when salons can reopen but that doesn’t mean lash artists can’t be productive during the latest lockdown. When we all open our doors again, we expect a surge in clients who have been desperately waiting for their favourite treatments for months!

None of us wants to disappoint our loyal clients or potentially lose revenue due to the lack of preparation for reopening. One of the most important preparations is to ensure we all have adequate stock to keep up with current trends.

  Lashes In Lockdown

However, without regular clients and interactions with other artists, how do we know what to expect from clients’ requests after lockdown? We analysed current search engine trends so we can all keep up-to-date, even though we are remote. The most popular trends for Winter/Spring 2021 are:

Lash Lift

Lash lift is one of those treatments that will never go out of style. Quicker and cheaper than lash extensions and, with the right care, they can last even longer than lash extensions. If your lash lift tool or lash lift comb is starting to get worn out, it’s time to replace them with new ones.

Kim K Styling

Who doesn’t love a bit of Kim K styling? This look is iconic and still is the most commonly asked for style. Make sure you’re fully trained in this style, if you aren’t, you could be missing out on a lot of revenue.

M Curl Lashes

If you’ve been out of the loop due to lockdown, then you need to brush up on M curl lashes. These are the latest innovation and trend in lash extensions and clients and artists are going mad for them thanks to their easy fan and amazing results.

Pre Made Fan Lashes

Pre made fan lashes could be a saviour to lash artists everywhere. When salons reopen, there could be a huge influx of calls from clients wanting appointments. However, there are only so many hours in the day and you don’t want to turn clients down and lose them to competitors. Pre made fan lashes are faster to apply, allowing more appointments in one day.

Lash Serum

Lash serum is a perfect up-sell. Searches for lash serums rose 150% during lockdown, compared to the same months in the previous year. Clients want to be able to look after their lashes in between appointments and we never know when we could go into another lockdown.

Keeping lash serum in stock to offer to your clients will not only increase revenue but shows that you care about your clients and their lashes, even when you can’t see them.

Staying Productive During Lockdown

So you’ve done a thorough stocktake and placed orders for what you need, now what? It can be disheartening sitting at home all day and feeling unproductive. But there are certain things you can do that won’t only keep you active and help your mental health, but also help your business.

Our lashes on lockdown blog provide a great guide for what lash artists could be doing during lockdown. Here is a brief overview:

Practice Makes Perfect

Whether it’s on yourself or a member of your household, keep practising your art. Even the most skilled artist has room for improvement and you don’t want to forget any of your training during this downtime. If there are any gaps in your knowledge, consider taking a new eyelash extension course.

Work On Your Brand

Your brand is what sets you apart from the competition and can make or break a business. Give your business a makeover. Anything from a new coat of paint in the salon, an overhaul of your website or really committing to your social media pages can help boost your brand.

Get Organised

How are your tools looking? Do you know where everything is? Is that big pile of paperwork in desperate need of filing? It’s time to organise your salon, you can even team this with your brand revamp. Simple things like storage jars for brushes and tweezers that match the colours of your salon make a huge difference to the aesthetic and make it easier to find everything.

But the best piece of advice we can give to all our wonderful lash artists is this: keep the faith, this will pass and we will be back to normal one day. It may seem like a difficult time but if you do everything within your power to make the most of your time in lockdown, you’ll have your business thriving again in no time!
